In February of 2022 I spent 6 weeks living in Bali, Indonesia and made myself a mobile studio so that I could keep doing the podcast without too much interruption. Honestly life was pretty dialed in Bali to where I really wasn’t in a rush to get home. I was able to record a bunch of great episodes before I left that we rolled out over the first couple of weeks and then I was able to record some great shows while I was there. [For the record Tommy Searle and Billy Bolt] It was also when I was able to make the Europe studio happen. As well as being great for work, I met some crew to moto with and was able to do Jiu Jitsu practically every day. 

It was a trip that had been on the horizon for a while, and after the spicy cough, it was my first time traveling in 2 years. I was nervous to upset the momentum that the podcast had while I was pretty sure I was going to be able to make it work, leaving the studio for so long seemed risky. In the end, we had at the time our third biggest month on YouTube and I was stoked that I was still able to retain some of the Gypsy Spirit and experience spending a solid chunk of time in a completely new place.

But all good things must come to an end, and unlike Peter Pan, I had to return home. The Peter Pan analogy kinda falls on its face though when I tell you why I had to leave Bali… I had to leave because there was a plane I needed to catch to Phillip Island, to spend the day riding a race prepped Ducati V2. Phillip Island.

It would be hard to write something about PI that hasn’t already been written before. It’s known as one of the best tracks to ride a sportbike on the planet. It is the same track that Casey Stoner won 2 world titles at (and was undefeated there his entire career) and was the same track that Mick Doohan dominated en route to his many 500 Championships.

It was the bucket list experience that I never even had the thought to write down.

In the last two years I have absolutely loved my involvement with the whole crew at Ducati Australia and New Zealand, but this day was something else entirely. I had a couple of other track days under my belt at this point but they pale in comparison to the sheer speed, scale and beauty of the Phillip Island circuit.
